Reclaiming Creative Agency

A software engineer's experiment in using AI to automate only the boring parts, preserving what makes work meaningful and human.

I am documenting my journey as a software engineer building tools with AI that are actually useful for people and provide value.

This isn't about replacing humans. It's about understanding what this technology can do, making it more accessible, and helping you focus on what makes you uniquely you.

The AI Assistant
Experiment

My first project: building an AI assistant that automates only the parts of my job and life that I think are boring and mundane—not the fun creative parts I enjoy. The goal is to help me focus more on what truly matters.

The Manifesto

"

Tech companies are spending billions of dollars to build AI workers that replace us entirely. They don't just want to automate the boring parts of our jobs. They want to automate the creative meaningful parts as well.

I'm a software engineer. I love my job, but my career is vulnerable.

And instead of just waiting to watch what happens, I'm going to use my skills and run an experiment on myself. Over the next six months, I'm going to build an AI assistant that does only the parts of my job that I don't enjoy, the parts of my life that are boring and mundane, so I can focus on what's meaningful and creative.

This technology is coming for all of us, regardless of how you feel about it. I hope following along will help you understand what the technology is capable of and where its limitations are, so that you can focus on what makes you uniquely you and hold an edge in this new economy that's being thrust upon us.
